Transformer Management Machine Prototypes

Scales: 1:6, 1:14, and 1:24

Over the course of this project three scale models were developed for a trade show booth display and a display at the companies corporate headquarters.  Each model was constructed of laser cut acrylic parts from working blueprints.  The model parts were assembled painted and wired for multiple lighting effects in order to show the complex workings of large machines not able to be displayed in a convention hall environment.

Louisville, KY I-65 Ohio River Bridge Project:

Scale: 1 inch = 60 feet or 1:720

A Monroe Models bridge model was picked as the winner for a Louisville, KY freeway project.  Although we did not design the bridge we did build the model of the winning design.  In conjunction with Kik and Associates we built two of three bridge designs and Kik and Associates built the third design plus the model base.  Each bridge is approximately 5 feet long.  The bridge models are on public display in the Lousville area.

Prototype Model Castings:

Scale 1:87 and 1:160 (HO and N scale)

We also make patterns or master parts for other manufactures along with developing our own line of products.  These are some examples of prototype models we have developed for  JL Innovative Design, Tomar, Railway Express Miniatures, Con-Cor and others.  Most patterns are made out of different types of plastic or metal and developed into mass produced  metal or plastic parts through various types of molds and casting procedures derived from our original designs.

Custom Railroad Freight House

Scale 1:64 (S scale) Circa 1950's

This is the second building commissioned by Steve D. of Wayzata, MN for his S scale Burlington Route Empire.  Steve wanted a copy of our popular HO scale Kit (#2202 Smith Lake freight house) in S scale plus he wanted it longer and heavily weathered to look like and old and sooty railroad structure.

Merchants Dispatch Factory Shop and Office:

Scale: 1:220, Z scale

An avid Z scale modeler and owner of Nansen Models, John Bartolotto, wanted a very detailed version of two buildings in upstate New York for his own Z scale empire.  From limited historical and recent photos, and no drawings, we developed these two custom scale buildings using laser cut parts and plastic building materials.  John is stationed in Germany working for the US government so all communication was done via the internet.  Proving that no matter what your location in the world we can work with you.  John was astonished by the finished models calling them "Museum Quality".

Denver and South Park Logging Train

Scale: 1:87, HO scale

Rich B. of Bethesda, MD wanted a replica of a Denver and South Park logging train.  The train set is a mix of fictitious fun and historical prototype.  The locomotive is custom painted and weathered to match the "Platte Canon" engine which was lost to time in the 1800's.  The engine and waycar were brought back to life with historical research, custom decals, numerous white metal and brass detail parts. The log cars include real wood logs, and lots of weathering.  The finished product is proudly displayed by a very satisfied customer.

Chicago and North Western City Bridge

Scale 1:87, HO scale    Circa 1950's

This bridge is based on a bridge that once stood in Milwaukee, WI but modified for a more "Art Deco" look.  This bridge measures 32 inches long and has capacity for three lanes of highway traffic and enough room for 8 or more tracks underneath it.  It is BIG!  Built for James S. of the Milwaukee, WI area for his C&NW empire.  After receiving the bridge James said, "BEAUTIFUL!!!!  You did a great job!!"

American Style Roundhouse:

Scale 1:220 (Z scale)

This structure was designed ,CAD drawn, and laser cut by Monroe Models for another Model Railroad manufacture.  The kit is from generic plans and not based on any particular prototype.  It is made of Basswood, fiberboard, cardstock, and plastic parts.  The intent was to make a classic American style roundhouse for Z scale railroad fans.

Erie Canal Boat:

Scale 1:220 (Z scale)

This is a water line model of a typical Erie Canal Boat Circa 1890's.  The model was produced in Z scale from historical photographs.  It is made of acrylic and styrene parts with the addition of laser etched pieces.  It was never painted completely so the client could produce a mold and multiple castings of the prototype.  The hatch covers were made separately so the finished boat can be displayed with or without the covers in place.  The whole model is under five inches long.
