Prototype Castings:
Monroe Models has been creating masters for spin cast
metal parts for years. This is only a very tiny sample of the
parts we have made over the years for various manufactures and
individuals. We can take your drawing, photos, or sketches and
turn them into three dimensional model parts. Call or email today
for a free quote on your next project.
How the parts are made:
Each part is originally made from brass or plastic
materials. We can mill, turn, laser cut or etch, or sculpt by hand
any part needed. The plastic parts are then turned into
brass in a process called the Lost Wax Process. Which is very
similar to the process used to make jewelry from wax master patterns.
The brass parts from this process are then used as master parts to make
spin cast molds for mass production of each piece. The finished
parts are made of a lead free white metal similar to pewter. Then
the parts are packaged along with instructions for the modeler to glue
together and paint the finished model.
